At Sea Green Engineering, we are dedicated to reducing the maritime sector’s environmental footprint through innovative R&D. Our work focuses on alternative fuel systems, hybrid propulsion, wind-assisted technologies, and sustainable energy solutions.
In the GAMMA.EU project, we contribute to developing a hydrogen-based energy system for commercial shipping. By retrofitting a bulk carrier, the project integrates green ammonia and biomethanol conversion to hydrogen, powering fuel cells to replace fossil-fuel auxiliary generators, significantly cutting emissions.
Through PROMESEO, we developed NEXT, an advanced software for early-stage vessel electrification assessment. NEXT optimizes Power Propulsion and Energy (PPE) systems, considering volume, weight, stability, charging infrastructure, and cost-effectiveness.
We are also engaged in the development of wind propulsion technologies, integrating solutions like rigid sails, suction wings, Flettner rotors and innovative aerodynamic systems to reduce fuel consumption and emissions. By harnessing wind energy, we help shipowners transition toward greener, more efficient operations.
Beyond these projects, we continue advancing clean technologies to drive sustainable maritime innovation.
At Sea Green Engineering, we are committed to addressing the energy challenges of the 21st century by focusing on reducing environmental impact and enhancing energy efficiency in the maritime sector.
We offer innovative solutions for both new-build projects and retrofitting existing vessels to comply with the latest IMO regulations on greenhouse gas emissions.
Starting with a detailed analysis of each ship’s operational profile, we identify the most efficient and sustainable energy systems to install on board for all alternative energy carriers such as LNG, CNG, methanol, ammonia, hydrogen, and electricity stored in batteries and supercapacitors.
Our approach ensures that the chosen system not only minimizes emissions but also optimizes cost-effectiveness and ease of maintenance.
Additionally, we assess the feasibility of the necessary refueling or recharging infrastructure, ensuring a comprehensive solution that supports both environmental and operational goals.
At Sea Green Engineering, we understand that our clients demand ships that are not only more efficient, but also safer, smarter, and better suited for the challenges of modern maritime operations.
To meet these needs, we combine our expertise as Naval Architects and Marine Engineers with advanced design tools and cutting-edge technology. We support our clients throughout every stage of the design process, from initial feasibility studies to final delivery, ensuring a seamless and efficient journey.
In addition to our design services, we offer a wide range of survey services, from general evaluation through to our specialisation in stability, including inclining and lightship checks.
